2008 was a real breakthrough year for the Are Sensus system. More sites equipped with Sensus were built on 2008 than ever before. The Sensus building services system was nominated for the Nordic Council Nature and Environment Prize 2008.

There was a vigorous growth in both of the main segments of Property Services: commercial and office premises. During the financial year, Are acquired Airmec Oy, a specialist in cooling technology.

Are’s Renovation Services launched nationwide operations during the year. The company’s market position was strengthened through mergers and acquisitions. During the year under review, Are acquired the maintenance and renovation services of Lujapalvelut and the entire construction business of Rakennusliike Pelkonen Oy.

The number of Are personnel grew considerably during the financial year. At the close of the year, the company employed 1,862 people, an increase of 187 on the previous year.

Are was awarded the Golden Hard Hat for the best idea for promoting occupational safety in the HEPAC industry in 2008.
