Are Group and Skanska Talonrakennus Oy have agreed on the delivery of HEPAC, automation and sprinkler equipment to a postal sorting office currently under construction in Kuopio. The value of the contract is significant – over EUR 3 million in total.
Are is delivering the HEPAC and automation project on a turnkey basis. The project includes planning and design, equipment, installation work and a five-year system guarantee.
“We chose Are because we already knew their level of expertise, having previously collaborated on a number of major projects,” says Janne Mönkkönen, Regional Manager of Skanska Talonrakennus Oy.
Skanska Talonrakennus is responsible for the construction work on the postal sorting office in Kuopio. The building will comprise a total of 20,500 m2. Construction of the foundations of the sorting office began in mid-October. The frame of the building was then constructed in late November.
The first phase of Are’s work has involved extensive planning and design, and the actual installation work will commence in December. The project delivery comprises heating equipment, plumbing equipment, air conditioning, automation and a sprinkler system. The work is scheduled to be completed in February 2010.

Kuopio’s new postal sorting office will commence operations in the spring of 2010. The sorting office is located in Hiltulanlahti, in the area between the Savo railway line and the old main road to Lapland. It is just north of Matkusjärvi lake, approximately 11 km south-west of central Kuopio.
