Are Group wins plumbing contract for Kuopio’s Alatori underground car park
Are is responsible for project management of the plumbing work for the Alatori car park.
“The Alatori plumbing contract allows us to link our strong technical expertise with our project experience.Kuopion Pysäköinti Oy chose Are for the contract on account of these strengths and because of the price tendered,” says Markku Mäkinen, Area Manager at Are.
The Alatori project is part of the more extensive redevelopment of Kuopio’s city centre to make it more attractive and accessible.The car park will be completed in spring 2013 and will include new connections to the shopping facilities around the edge of Kuopio’s central square. The extension to the car park will give it an overall total of 1,350 spaces.
This major contract in one of the busiest locations in Kuopio imposes special demands on the way in which the work is undertaken.The surrounding traffic needs to be taken into consideration as well as the operation of the many shops in the new pedestrian centre, and also the indoor market.
“The location of the site and the nearby shops make it a very challenging project.All our work is aimed at ensuring that the shops and indoor market can operate as smoothly as possible,” says Mäkinen.
