Are responsible for HEPAC and medical gas contract at Kuopio University Hospital extension
“The Kuopio University Hospital extension is an important contract in which we are able to directly utilise our recent experiences from demanding hospital sites in Turku and Seinäjoki where we carried out electrical contracts last year,” says Markku Mäkinen, Area Manager at Are.
The contract will employ about 20-30 installers and a large number of other employees at Are. Are has previously carried out repair contracts for the Hospital District of Northern Savo, but this is the first contract to be carried out at a completely new site.
Are has also selected the HEPAC products that will be used at the site and is responsible for their procurement.
Puijo Hospital, which is in the Hospital District of Northern Savo, is Kuopio University Hospital’s main hospital. The unit’s operations have expanded significantly over the decades and there has been a substantial change in the requirements of hospital functions with the development of treatment practices and the increase in the use of information technology.
The construction work for the extension was started at the beginning of the year and will be completed by the end of 2014. The functional tests and test runs for the building services systems will then be carried out and the site will be handed over to the customer on spring 2015.
