Are wins electrical contract for West Metro tunnels
The West Metro extends the metro line westwards from Ruoholahti via Lauttasaari to Espoo, where the terminus will be in Matinkylä. It will eventually carry more than 100 000 passengers per day. Finland’s largest infrastructure project, the construction of the West Metro employs thousands of people and comprises seven new stations and two parallel tunnels almost 14 kilometres in length.
Are will be responsible for the project management and planning of all electrical work on the 13.6 km route from Ruoholahti to Matinkylä. The contract includes electrical cabling work, lighting and safety systems in the tunnels, and the cabling of emergency systems.
Such major underground projects require very robust project management competence.
Are has solid experience in demanding underground electrical projects, and it has also built up a wide network of highly competent subcontractors, whose flexible cooperation will ensure a high-quality outcome.
“The West Metro electrical contract will be an opportunity to combine our strong technical expertise with the project management experience we have gained from special projects,” says Pepe Perkiö, Are’s Business Area Director.
